BEER ASSORTMENT

Signal flags and the Sun over farmland

ÆRØ SERIES - WITH THE MARITIME LOOK

Each beer has a section of the nautical chart around Ærø as a background.

When you turn the bottle over, there will be a signal flag. Signal flags are flags used to communicate with other ships or land - with Ærø Brewery beer you can now signal to each other across the table or bar.

The Ærø range includes: Grolle Pilsner, Golden Pale Ale, IPA, 0.5% Pale Ale, New England IPA, Walnut, Dark Ale, Stout, Tang Beer, Easter Ale and Strong Rudolph Jule Ale.

THE GRUDGE AND THE LION

The logo with the little sparrow standing in front of the lion was created when Ærø Bryggeri was reborn. The figures are taken from a limestone relief from Rise Church.
The house sparrow, known as a grolle on Ærø, is a kind of national bird, something the people of Ærø like to call themselves. As an added twist to the story, the inventor of the world's first lager beer was named Josef Groll.

ÆRØ ORGANIC - SUN AND FIELDS

The organic series is recognized with the sun in front. In addition to being a maritime island, Ærø is also characterized by agriculture and not least the many guests who come to the island when the sun is high in the sky.
Ærø Organic started as a duplicate of the Ærø series. However, the organic variants are often milder and rounder in taste and as it was not possible to obtain the same raw materials organically, the two series are now more different. However, there are a few beers that are comparable to the conventional series.

Ærø organic range includes Pilsner, Golden Pale Ale, Session IPA, Walnut, Brown Ale, Imperial Stout, Easter Ale and Jule Ale.

A BEER WITH HONOR

Here at Ærø Bryggeri, we work according to a vision where good quality and great taste experiences should be accessible to everyone. This means that Ærø beer is now widely available across the country - and at a price that most people can afford.
Beer from Ærø Bryggeri is first and foremost characterized by being brewed from pure raw materials. This means that when you experience notes of, for example, licorice, spices or citrus, it's just good brewing craftsmanship and the pure taste of hops and malt.
It's the pure and simple ingredients that deliver the deepest flavors. That's how it is with life and that's how it is with beer.

ÆRØ No.5 WALNUT

No. 5 Walnut is the brewery's signature beer. It is an amber golden Bock with a delicate, round aroma and fine body. It is infused with walnut aroma, inspired by the many walnut trees that grow on Ærø. The walnut aroma is not dominant, but is a good base for this bock. The beer has a good malty sweetness with notes of caramel, malt balls, toasted rye bread and nuts. We have cheated a little here, as the addition of aroma deviates from the starting point with the four pure ingredients, but it suits this Bock so well that it would not be the same without it.

Good with firm cheeses, lightly smoked ham and small sausages with walnuts, but also a good companion for fattier foods like Christmas food. Try slow-roasting game in a brine of No. 5 Walnut, porcelain schnapps and blackcurrant.

ÆRØ ORGANIC WALNUT

A round and delicate "Bock" beer with a beautiful amber-golden color. The beer is inspired by the many walnut trees that grow on Ærø, and organic walnut kernels are added to give a distinct flavor of walnuts, vanilla and caramel. The beer has a good malt sweetness and a discreet bitterness. We cheated a little here, as the addition of walnut kernels deviates from the starting point with the four pure ingredients, but it suits this Bock so well that it would not be the same without it. This beer can easily be confused with our ÆRØ No. 5 VALNØD, as the two beers look quite similar on paper, but taste-wise they are two quite different beers.

The sweetness of the beer makes it suitable for the sweet kitchen and the cheese table. Drink it with the cheese sandwich with pickled walnuts, duck with Waldorf salad or drink it after a good dinner instead of dessert.

ÆRØ IPA

Our IPA is a beautiful golden ale with an aromatic aroma and flavor. It is brewed with Cascade hops, which adds a good hop flavor with bitterness and notes of citrus and flowers. However, the bitterness is not as strong and the beer is known to be less hoppy than an IPA in general. A mild and easy drinking everyday beer.

Pumpkin soup with chili and ginger, Indian dishes, anything with curry from Danish cuisine (from curry herring to curry buns) or a good pizza with tomato, air-dried ham, parmesan and rocket. It also goes well with pork that's been on the grill.

The low alcohol content meant that several could be consumed during a break without getting too drunk.

The fine bitterness of the beer goes well with Indian dishes, anything with curry, ginger and chili. Goes well with pork or chicken that has been on the grill, preferably with lots of garlic. Or fresh spring rolls with lots of vegetables, fresh chili/ginger and shrimp.

ÆRØ DARK ALE

Full-bodied dark ale with a deep mahogany red color and creamy head. The combination of malt and hops evokes flavors of caramel, licorice and fruit, while a good bitterness ties it all together. If you love your Dark Ale chilled, this is how you should drink it. We recommend a serving temperature of around 12 degrees Celsius, where we believe the flavor is at its sharpest.

Suitable for the Danish/French country kitchen with intense meat dishes. Otherwise for the more simple style for medister meatballs. The beer is excellent for braising pork cheeks, tenderloin or chicken.

ÆRØ ORGANIC IMPERIAL STOUT

A Stout of the Imperial Stout subcategory, which means that the sweetness, body, flavor and alcohol content (8-12%) have been turned up. This beer is the heaviest in our range, although some might place it in the lighter category, as the alcohol content in our interpretation is on the lower end. The malts give the beer a good body and sweetness with notes of caramel, chocolate, licorice and coffee, while the hops are in the background and give a nice fullness and a present bitterness.

This Imperial stout should be enjoyed on its own after a good dinner. Split it in two and get a little extra out of the experience. Start with the first glass straight from the fridge and sip it slowly. Leave the bottle on the counter for an hour and then drink the last glass more tempered.
